Start a session
Connect to your Mac and open Terminal. Commands run on the Mac as your SSH account, with that account’s permissions.
pwd
whoamiUse multiple sessions
Create another session using Terminal’s session controls. Each session gives you a separate shell for another task. Do not assume a command continues after a connection is lost.
History and shortcuts
Use terminal history to revisit commands and the available keyboard shortcuts for terminal input. Review a recalled command before submitting it.
Optional AI assistance
AI suggestions are optional and do not run automatically. Read the suggested command before choosing Run. See Local & API AI for setup.
Know where a command runs
This is a shell on your Mac, not on your iPhone. pwd shows the current folder and whoami shows the account running the session.
Each session has its own shell state. Changing folders in one session does not change the current folder in another.
Working with sessions
Use New terminal session or New session in the sessions panel to create another shell. Switch sessions when you want to keep tasks separate.
Closing a session or losing its connection can affect running commands. For long jobs, use a persistence tool you have configured on the Mac rather than relying on the iPhone connection remaining open.
Review input before submitting it
Pasting text and running it are separate actions. Read pasted or recalled commands at the prompt before pressing Return.
When MARC offers Insert at prompt for a folder command, make sure the shell is at an empty prompt. The action inserts the command without running it.
AI suggestions need the same review. Check paths, flags, and any command that changes or deletes data.
